Hydrotex Expands Lubrication University’s Training Facility
Upgraded Classrooms Align with Increased Need for Flexible Professional Development Options
DALLAS – September 12, 2017 – Hydrotex, a national manufacturer and distributor of high performance lubrication and fuel improver solutions, recently renovated its Lubrication University facility, nearly doubling capacity and significantly upgrading technology, and classroom accommodations. This comes as the company continues expanding its course offerings including specialized fuel management courses and professional development tailored to specific customer needs.
Lubrication University, known in the industry as Lube U, now features meeting space for up to 80 individuals in theater style, 49 in classroom style. A large 60’ X 26’ room can be divided with a soundproof wall featuring floor-to-ceiling whiteboards on both sides. The resulting two rooms feature their own sound systems, high-definition projectors, and back-of-the room monitors for presenters to reference during classes. Projectors can be programmed for dual projection when the room is open and individual projection when it is divided.
The space is equipped with a dual touch interactive whiteboard and one-touch preprogramming to control projectors, lighting and screens. Each room is also outfitted with high-definition cameras providing the capability for full-room teleconferencing as one large room or two separate rooms. A document camera provides high-resolution viewing of smaller objects, particularly during root cause analysis, by those in the classroom as well as audience members participating online.
An upgraded breakroom is located directly outside the classrooms with highboy seating as well as communal tables. Duel refrigerators, a microwave, coffee nook and moveable serving/display tables complete the space.
“We wanted a space that encouraged collaboration with the flexibility for smaller group specialization,” said John Beasley, president & chief executive officer. “This helps us accommodate larger groups that want to split into smaller groups for topic-specific discussions.”
Lube U’s most recent professional development course capitalized on this adaptable functionality by holding several general sessions on lubrication management for the entire group before splitting into two groups; one focusing on industrial applications and the other on motor vehicle applications.
“From an instructional perspective, the facility’s revisions further enhance its suitability for instruction of maintenance and reliability professionals,” said John Cummins, dean of Lubrication University and vice president of product technology. “Our high-tech, high-touch approach is reinforced with our adjacent warehouse where students get hands-on experience including pulling fuel and oil samples. On-site trucks and cars provide more tangible practice for those on the automotive track.”
Lube U’s training facility also features an extensive collection of mechanical cutaways including multiple types of gearboxes, compressors, diesel engines, and injector systems. A wind turbine bearing, gears with various types of damage, and samples of lubricants and greases complete the teaching aids.
“We are adamant about helping people gain the skills necessary to apply the principles of lubrication and fuel management,” said Beasley. “When done successfully, these management principles can result in a significant return on investment including a decrease in resource spending and mechanical breakdowns.”
